Vampire: The Masquerade Rivals Expandable Card Game 2023/2024 Organized Play Roadmap

Gen Con 2023 is in our rearview mirror and it’s time to go over the path the Rivals OP is going to take for the following year. We’re not reinventing the wheel, we’re making sure the Rivals community has the tools and information to continue to support this game that so many of you love. This roadmap isn’t a set-in-stone set of directions but rather a guide to finish 2023 and head into 2024. This should serve as a guide to players, retailers, and organizers to best enjoy Rivals OP.

We haven’t been the best at keeping the Rivals community in the loop in 2023 and we’re looking to make sure that isn’t the case going forward. We’ve talked to several players, organizers, and retailers worldwide to ensure we’re offering events that players want to play in and enjoy. If you have any questions or comments you can always reach out to us at organizedplay@renegadegames.com

Rivals League
These events were previously called “Vampire Wednesdays” but now we’re just going with Rivals League. We don’t want people to think they can only play on a Wednesday. Rivals Leagues are the best and most consistent way to run or play Rivals on a regular basis. These events are open for local game stores to run but also for community organizers to run. Events must be run at a public place, but you aren’t locked into running them at a gaming store. A friendly local game store is still the preferred place to host and play in Rivals events but we know that isn’t always an option.

There are refreshed Rivals League Kit prizes coming soon, featuring cards from the recent Core Set 2.0 – Hunters & Hunted. We will have more details and images of those prize support kits soon. Retailers will continue to be able to order prize support kits through the Renegade Game Studio’s retailer site. Retailers and community organizers will also be able to order prize kits through our upcoming new tournament locator software.

Clan Clash
There isn’t much we can currently share about 2024 Clan Clashes other than to say they’ll still be happening. These are local championship-level events that give Rivals players a shot at being their local Clan Champion.

We do have one change to share - there will be two Clan Clash seasons in 2024! One in the spring and one in the fall. Look for signups to host your own Clan Clash later in 2023.

Prince of the City
The pinnacle of Vampire: The Masquerade Rivals Expandable Card Game Organized Play is the Prince of the City events. These are events where the winner of the event is immortalized in the Vampire: The Masquerade mythos and appears on their own Rivals card!

The goal is to have about one Prince of the City event per month, about 15 Prince events total in 2024. There are already Prince of the City events set up in Louisiana, Spain, and The United Kingdom to help finish out 2023.

Continental Championships
Robert Jordan was recently crowned the 2023 Rivals North American Continental Champion at Gen Con 2023. The 2024 Rivals North American Continental Championship will take place at Gen Con 2024.

The 2023 European Continental Championships will take place later in 2023. Look for the 2024 European Continental Championship scheduled in the summer of 2024. In 2024 we’re also adding a Continental Championship for Australia.

New Tournament Locator Software
We’re excited to announce that Renegade is partnering with Carde.io Play to provide a new tournament locator system. This will allow Rivals organizers to easily list their Rivals events and for players to be able to find places to play Rivals. This service will eventually feature a full card database that will allow players to create decks and tie them to their accounts. Event organizers will also be able to order Rivals League prize support through this service as well. Renegade will work with Carde.io to add new and improve the service to be the best way possible for Rivals players to find other players and compete in exciting events.

A beta of the Rivals Carde.io service will start in the next week with it being able to handle and fulfill prize support about a month after that.

Community Feedback
Everyone here at Renegade Game Studios wants to provide the best tools and prizes possible so the Rivals community can thrive and enjoy places to play Rivals. If you have any feedback you’d like to share about Rivals Organized Play at organizedplay@renegadegames.com.
